Feeling Better

It is really amazing how your really are what you eat. Now that I've been eating healthy for a week and only eating good things the "old me" enjoyed, I feel like I have a much clearer head, more energy and just an overall better mindset.

I haven't been counting points this week, but back to 3 small meals, 2 snacks...all clean eating/non-processed foods. I still have to deal with the coffee vice...but I know I will be able to once again rid my life of it and artificial sweeteners.

I look forward to Monday my official weigh in day...I've already peaked at the scale this week and I think I'm in for a nice number. It's amazing the fast damage eating a tub of cookie a day can do. Just alone stopping that horrible habit I'm saving myself a whooping 3,360 calories a day!

Sugar in your Chili?

A few months ago I stumbled onto a can of DelMonte canned tomatoes "zesty chili style". You just add meat of your choice (turkey for me) and some beans and a few seasonings.
My husband requested I make it again so I went to the store to pick up the ingredients. As I strive to "Eat Clean" I routinely check labels. You can only imagine my SHOCK when I noticed these canned tomatoes had High Fructose Corn Syrup in them!!! Tomatoes? Really? WTH?!?!

So of course I checked what else was in there...chili powder, garlic, onion - no problem I can add that stuff myself. I grabbed 2 larger cans of diced petite tomatoes instead (checking the label - no sugar added!) and headed down the isle towards the beans.

I have been using kidney beans in the recipe, so I grabbed a can of those and just for good measure checked their label - WTH?!?! High Fructose Corn Syrup...in BEANS? What is going on here? Why would anyone want (or need) sugar in these beans! Needless to say - I put those babies back on the shelf, made a beeline for the dry beans section and got a nice, healthy bag of kidney beans (for 1/2 the price I might add) and just did a little extra cooking to have my bean sugar free!
Today's Workout:
5am - restarted my "Couch to 5K" podcast program - ran 2 miles - FELT GREAT!
