Feeling Better

It is really amazing how your really are what you eat. Now that I've been eating healthy for a week and only eating good things the "old me" enjoyed, I feel like I have a much clearer head, more energy and just an overall better mindset.

I haven't been counting points this week, but back to 3 small meals, 2 snacks...all clean eating/non-processed foods. I still have to deal with the coffee vice...but I know I will be able to once again rid my life of it and artificial sweeteners.

I look forward to Monday my official weigh in day...I've already peaked at the scale this week and I think I'm in for a nice number. It's amazing the fast damage eating a tub of cookie a day can do. Just alone stopping that horrible habit I'm saving myself a whooping 3,360 calories a day!

Fun in the Sun

Yesterday I took my girls to Six Flags Over Texas. I hadn't been in 10years. I grew up just a few miles from the place and went alot through my childhood. Somehow as I gained weight, I went less...walking and standing was too much trouble.

We stayed for 7hours yesterday - rode 7 rides - stood in line to get our season pass photos taken & had a picnic lunch too. It was a good day - we pack snacks and ate within my calorie/point budget and didn't spend one dime (since we bought Combo Season passes in advance for 6flags and hurricane harbor, plus the parking pass). It should be a fun summer for the girls and me. I feel kinda guilty that Chris will be working and missing the fun, but he said it was ok and will join us a few times on the weekends.

Today I went to the doctor for the results of some recent blood work. She was just gushing over me for loosing weight. I'm so close to that 100...I just can't wait! My blood work was awesome she said, my cholesterol was down to 196 (from a high of 244) she said my "bad cholesterol" LDL was at a good level 96 and my "good cholesterol" HDL was low 43 (to eat more fish - mainly salmon) to adjust it. So it looks as if all the numbers are heading in the right direction!

Hope everyone else is enjoying their spring break also...tomorrow we are off the the vet to get our new pup her shots.

Gave in

Started taking prednisone (steroid) this morning to get over this asthma bout before it migrates to bronchitis. I feel better today already - I haven't gotten to workout Tuesday or today because I was doing good to breathe without any additional stress...I hate having asthma! If you smoke - STOP...the pleasure is not worth the long term effects!

I did delight in the fact that I lost 2lbs...woohoo! I'll take it and hopefully be back to full steam in a couple more days.

All is well, food is still on track - just a lil residual guilty for not working out, but I know that is the right thing to do given my health right now.

Oh the numbers!

Last week I gave blood...actually platelets. I do this routinely because at age 21 I was in a car wreck and received 8 units from anonymous donors and I have made a promise to myself to always pay that forward.
I hadn't given blood since my journey to better health began and I certainly was interested to see what my cholesterol was. So at the appointment my blood pressure was 102/69, pulse 63 and hemoglobin (iron count) 14.4 - an awesome number. I was so expecting my cholesterol to be much improved. To my disappointment I found out it was 214. Now that's a VAST improvement from my one time high of 274, but my previous reading was 258...I was just expecting it to be so much better since I haven't eaten anything fried in over 6 months, I eat mostly non-processed foods and workout almost daily.
I'm hoping it will improve with time, but I think I will make a visit to my doctor just to consult her opinion. Seems like I'd see a lower number with a 70lb loss and improved diet.
